Empty Shelves

A couple of days ago I went to the store to get ingredients for birthday cakes for two of my children.

I was astounded to see that cake mixes, frosting, donuts, and candy had been ransacked during this initial feeling of panic about COVID-19.

I was a little worried.

Maybe people are making sure they have ingredients on hand for birthdays for their kids too!

That’s what I’d like to think, however I am a little concerned that people may be stocking up on sweets to feel better.

Before you eat the candy or bake another cake to feel better, please, please, please, examine how you are feeling.

Are you eating out of stress, fear, anxiety, worry, fun, or boredom?

When this is all over we will all regret having gained weight, or contributed to our poor health by buffering our emotions with food.

I’d like to encourage everyone to examine what they are feeling and process their emotions in positive ways.

Meditate, walk, listen to music, cry, or BREATHE!

In the end you will be so glad you did something else other than eat!

  1. Julie! I ate the cake! It was delicious. I turned 70 yesterday and man I wanted cake and I ate it and I’m so happy I did. Half of it is going in the freezer for the kids when I get to see them again. Hope you and yours are coping with all of these changes and it’s fun to read your blog!

    1. Glad you enjoyed your cake! Looks like you aren’t the demographic I’m talking to! We are doing well and happy to be in UT.
