The past two months have been a whirlwind!!! Within a period of two months we decided to move and then moved. It was a little crazy!

If there is one thing military spouses know how to do, it’s move. I’m happy to say that I’m settled in my house with pictures on my walls one week after moving (even with my husband deploying two days after we arrived), finishing the last two weeks of my masters, enrolling kids in school, caring for the seven children, and one trip to urgent (of course!).

I’m kind of in awe of myself when I look at that last paragraph!!! Everything definitely worked out even when I was worried it wouldn’t.

I mentioned how I was done unpacking to a few friends and they were shocked. One friend jokingly said it takes her two years to get pictures on the wall!

It’s common knowledge that moving is one of the most stressful events in a person’s life due to a certain amount of grieving and the amount of tiny details of which a person needs to keep track. All those details can leave you a little crazy! Not to mention the overwhelming mess that occurs when you unpack your house!

This move was the first move I made where I was aware of my thoughts. I definitely handled it better.

When I house hunted, I’d feel the hopelessness of the situation and then move on to the thought that it will all work out and I’ll find the house where we are supposed to live.

When I moved in I didn’t want to do anything because of the overwhelm associated with the mess. So I felt the overwhelm, shed a few tears, and moved on to the thought that I probably won’t be here very long so I want to enjoy a put together house as long as possible! That thought kept me going and a week later I was done.

Truly, our thoughts are amazing! Even though moving is tiring and sometimes hard, the stress of the experience can be lessened when we are aware of what we are thinking and choose to think empowering thoughts!

Keep trying! Those empowering thoughts are available to all of us. You can do it!
